Refunds and Cancellation
All BORESCOPE IT products carry one year limited warranty covering any manufacturer's defects.
We accept returns for refund within 15 days after the item is dispatched. All returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Shipping and handling fees are not refundable. Any customs and transportation charges have to be paid by the customer.
Returns must be carefully re-packaged in original shipping materials. Merchandise must be returned in the original packing material and be in "like new" condition. Using other packing may cause damage during transportation leading to additional charges or refusal of the shipment.
Instruments showing marks, such as scratches, dents, etc., due to careless handling will have up to 60% deducted from the NET refund amount.
If you have to send goods for exchange or return, please request RMA (Return of Merchandise Authorization) Form via email (returns@borescopeit.com) by sending your contact information and invoice number with purchase date.
Filled-in RMA form should accompany the return merchandise. Further instructions on how to return the goods are described in the RMA form and should be carefully followed. Otherwise the return shipment may be denied if it is shipped incorrectly.
Taxes and Duties
Do You have to pay tax on orders from BORESCOPE IT?
Maybe. It depends on what country you are receiving the goods in. Tax is a complex issue, because it depends on what country you are receiving the goods into. Some countries are easy to import into, and have few restrictions and no taxes. Other countries are ultra restrictive and have high taxes. Before you start importing bigger quantities of Canadian goods to your country, you'll need to research what the law and practices are in your country (or shipping destination countries if you are dropshipping internationally).
Please read the following notes for some basic background...
No Sales Tax Charged By BORESCOPE IT except 5% GST tax for any Canadian destination:
- There is no 7% PST tax charge or hidden charges to pay on Canadian side when you buy at BORESCOPE IT, however, you have to pay through us the 5% GST tax when you do your order checkout. Please read below for more information.
- When you buy from Canada, and the products are delivered to your country, this is by definition importing. This means the process to receive the goods will usually be different to simply buying mail-order products from shops inside your country.
Import Duty and Sales Tax Charged By Your Country:
- Some countries charge tax on certain imported products, at certain quantity/value levels. Some countries do not. You are responsible for finding out the situation in your own country.
- Whatever you order from BORESCOPE IT, we will send you. We won't enforce any rules so it's up to you to make sure that what you are buying is OK to import in your country.
- Many countries charge two kinds of tax when you import anything from overseas. These are (1) Sales Tax (VAT) and (2) Import Duty. Usually these taxes are not very high, and the tax is calculated according to the value of the goods (+ shipping sometimes). On the other hand, many countries do not charge any tax on certain types of goods, or on small shipments.
Declared Value: Packet Value Affects Tax
- Usually, importing big quantities of goods from overseas is controlled by your country's customs quite strictly, but smaller quantities can be imported more freely. The definition of "big quantity" and "small quantity" (often defined by a value "threshhold") varies from country to country.
- The term "ad valorem" in import taxes means that the tax you have to pay is calculated as a percentage of the total value of the goods (+sometimes the shipping too). Obviously there would be an advantage to declare the value of the goods lower in such cases. This is known as "under-declaring" the goods and is not permitted, despite being widespread practice. Any customization you request from us in regard to declaration value on the shipping paperwork will be declined by us, and we will declare real value of the goods shipped.
Declared Contents: Packet Contents Affect Tax
- The category of goods you are importing often has an effect on whether you have to pay tax, or how much.
- Obviously, certain categories of dangerous or restricted goods are illegal to import in most countries. Other, specific restrictions on certain items such as video cameras and other electronic equipment may apply in your country as well - please research that information for your local country.
- The declared contents of a package must be true and accurate for customs purposes. Any customization you request from us regarding declaration of packet contents will be declined by us, and we will declare real value of the goods shipped.
Tax And Air Mail Packets
- Typically, taxes are more often / more strictly applied to courier shipments (UPS, FedEx, DHL) than postal shipments (Air Mail, USPS, EMS). In many countries, for single items, postal shipping is a simple way to reduce or eliminate import taxes, so it is better to ship single items by Xpresspost (USPS / EMS).
- However, shipping by air mail is not necessarily a guarantee of avoiding such taxes.
How To Pay Import Taxes
- If you have to pay any tax on the goods you receive, the most common way is that the taxes are first paid at customs by the courier (e.g. DHL, FedEx, UPS) and then you simply pay back the courier using cash or your credit card, when they deliver the goods to your door.
- On bigger orders (meaning, for most countries, anything more than one or two cartons) you should consider hiring a professional licensed Customs Broker to assist you with the clearance of your goods when they arrive in your destination country. This is because tax and contents assessment is applied most strictly to bigger shipments.
Why Do You Need To Do Your Own Research
- Import and tax rules are (a) different in every country; (b) changing often; (c) highly dependent on the shipment size and contents; and (d) not consistently applied by your country's different ports and customs houses. Therefore BORESCOPE IT cannot offer you specific advice about how much tax you will have to pay, or any guarantees related to this issue.
- We will always do our best to help you import successfully and profitably. If you have any doubts, simply open a live chat or email us at orders@borescopeit.com to get advise from our Customer Support Team.
- Sometimes the importing rules according to your country's government and customs are not enforced as strictly or consistently as they say. A good way to find out the realities of importing into your country is to begin with a series of smaller orders from BORESCOPE IT and make careful notes of what (if any) steps you had to go through or charges you had to pay. You may be pleasantly surprised how easy importing is for you.
Who Provides Import Paperwork?
- In general all the paperwork required for clearing your goods through customs is provided by BORESCOPE IT. Usually the shipping invoice and courier waybill included with all shipments from BORESCOPE IT is sufficient.
- Sometimes additional paperwork such as product licences are required by customs. We track all of your shipments until they reach you, so if there is such a requirement, we will respond to it promptly on your behalf, usually without the need for you to take any action.
- You may need to show a copy of the shipping invoice to receive your products in some cases, and we will give you the papers you need on request.
- It is your responsibility to confirm the details of the shipping paperwork with BORESCOPE IT before the goods are sent out. We will follow your instructions for customizing the shipping documentation according to your requirements, and you, as the importer, bear full responsibility for any exception arising from this paperwork.
Tax Liability
- The importer is solely responsible for all import taxes, sales taxes, and any other customs-related charges.
- BORESCOPE IT accepts no liability for any such charges. Importing taxes and charges cannot and will not be quoted/predicted, and they cannot be reimbursed to you under any circumstances.
- If an importer refuses to pay taxes or otherwise refuses to comply with requirements of the importing or customs clearance process, the goods will usually not be delivered successfully. In such cases the goods could be seized by customs, destroyed, or returned back to Canada. In any such cases you, the importer, bear sole responsibility as no error has been made by BORESCOPE IT in following your order requirements.
Import Taxes And Dropshipping - Warning
- Dropshipping means you "sell" goods to an end customer, and BORESCOPE IT sends the goods directly to your customer without you handling the goods. This means that the end customer is the consignee of the package being sent from Canada, and this means your customer is also considered to be the "importer" of the goods. Thus, your customer bears full responsibility for importing the goods and paying any applicable taxes, duties, and other charges. Make sure you research the situation and inform your customers clearly in advance!
-
Your Responsibilities:
- In this system, you as the Dropship Vendor are solely responsible for informing your Dropship Customer about the Canadian origin of the goods, the shipping method, the import declaration used, the import process, any taxes or charges that are likely to be charged or could be charged, and the mechanism for receiving goods and paying applicable charges. You are solely responsible for establishing and communicating whatever delivery terms, warranty, guarantees, or other contracts that you wish to establish with your customers; in these matters BORESCOPE IT accepts no liability.
- When dropshipping via eBay selling, Amazon selling, or any similar third party sales platform, you must additionally abide by their terms and conditions for clarifying the elivery/import process for your customers and clearly communicating/advertising your terms before the sale.
- In an exception case where a Dropship Customer refuses to receive goods, refuses to pay taxes, or otherwise fails to comply with the import process, you as the Dropship Vendor bear full responsibility for resolving the issue directly with your Dropship Customer. In dropship cases BORESCOPE IT as the Dropship Vendor will be deemed to have fulfilled all responsibility for delivering the order, and BORESCOPE IT will not accept any liability in such cases. In practical terms this means that in such a failed delivery case, you would have to decide whether or not to compensate your customer, but BORESCOPE IT would not offer you any form of refund.
- If you consistently fail to inform your customers properly about their import responsibilities, leading to delivery exceptions, we reserve the right to close your account and cancel any outstanding orders.
Getting More Information About Taxes
- Please undertake your own research about import regulations and taxes in your country. We can offer informal pre-sales advice, but we will not offer any formal advice or guarantees due to this issue being beyond our control.
- After you have placed your order from BORESCOPE IT, make sure you get in touch with us to confirm details of any customization that you require for your shipping invoice declarations.
- After your packets have been sent out from our warehouse, we will stay in touch with you and help you with any further importing process steps.
If there is some problem receiving the delivery due to Customs
"My Order Can't Be Delivered - There Is A Customs Problem". - Usually, when you import goods from BORESCOPE IT, the packet will be inspected by your local Customs.
There are usually no reasons to worry because:
- BORESCOPE IT provides all the necessary paperwork for your shipment;
- In most countries it's pretty easy to import most kinds of consumer products;
- The actual process of customs clearance is usually handled completely by the delivery company (e.g. UPS, FedEx, DHL);
- If there is any duty (import tax) or other charges to pay, the courier will usually pay it first and deliver the products to you, and you pay them later.
If there is a question about your delivery:
- Sometimes you may need to provide information to your local Customs about the shipment you are receiving. In some cases they need you to provide an invoice matching the invoice that accompanies the goods. In these cases please contact us immediately and we will provide you with a PDF file of the shipping invoice.
- Sometimes the products need to be backed up with some kind of licence or certificate. In these cases, we mostly already hear about it from the courier and we will handle it for you. If Customs contacts you about this, please contact us first to get our help.
Customs Liability
- If, for any reason, the products cannot be delivered to you, due to a Customs problem, we will discuss with you case by case about how to handle this issue.
- If goods are seized or turned back because of an issue that was BORESCOPE IT's fault, e.g. incorrect paperwork, we will re-deliver the goods at our own expense, or offer you credit for a new order.
- If goods cannot be delivered due to restrictions in your own country, this is your responsibility. For example, if you decided to try to import an otoscope with video camera kit, but this technology is illegal or restricted in your country, that is your responsibility to know about before you order from BORESCOPE IT, and if the delivery failed for that reason we cannot offer any compensation. Another situation in which you must accept liability is where your country requires you to have a licence to import commercial goods: in this case, it is your responsibility to know about this before you place an order on BORESCOPE IT, and in the case of a failed delivery, we cannot offer any compensation.
- As the importer you hold sole legal responsibility for responding to questions about imported goods delivering to yourself. Import duties, sales tax, and any other customs charge, are your responsibility, as described in our terms and conditions. If a delivery fails because you do not respond in time to Customs communications, or you refuse to pay the applicable charges, we cannot offer any compensation.
Do You Currently Have a Shipment With a Problem?
- If your delivery has a problem in Customs, we probably already know about it and are handling it. But please get in contact with us to get details of your delivery status.
Shipping and Deliveries
- Importing is a breeze in most countries! You may have to pay your own country's VAT (i.e. Sales Tax) and sometimes variable Import Duty when the items arrive, but in the vast majority of cases shipments from Canada delivered by courier arrive safely with no problems at all!
- Read the item description carefully! We will ship you whatever you order. Although we do assist you by manually checking all orders to screen possible region / compatibility inconsistencies, we do not accept returns for full refund which were simply mis-ordered by you. In such case we will charge 20% restocking fee within 14 days of shipment arrival. If you are in an NTSC video color region, don't order PAL products or vice versa.
- As the buyer / importer it is entirely your responsibility to find out in advance of placing your order whether your ordered items are subject to import restrictions. BORESCOPE IT will ship you whatever you order from us, so we do not accept liability in the case of failed delivery of goods, where they have failed to clear your country's local Customs - either in cases where the goods are turned back, or in cases where the goods are seized. In addition BORESCOPE IT is not responsible for informing you of possible import restriction issues before or after purchase.
- We will not be responsible for any damage that may be caused by careless use of the equipment sold. We will not be liable for any damage or personal loss due to incorrect usage of our products.
- Delivery time: If there is a possible delay due to the warehouse being out of stock, we'll contact you by email to discuss sending out your order in separate shipments, changing products, or other options. Larger orders that exceed our stock may take up to 4 weeks longer to send out, as we have to place an order to the factory. In such cases we will contact you about any delay. In certain cases, e.g. the first time you try to drop-ship to a different address than your own, we have to complete a verification check with you before processing your order, which can add 1-3 days to the processing time.
- It is possible that when you choose FedEx Ground or UPS Ground service for cross-border destinations from Canada, FedEx and UPS shipping couriers will charge you brokerage fees up to $70 for import of your shipment. So, we advise you to be careful when you decide to choose the Ground service since freight cost is cheaper than other delivery services, but eventually it will cost you more than Express Services or similar to those provided by FedEx and UPS. Nevertheless, when you order big quantity of product for single shipment, it is cheaper to go with Ground Service and pay additional Brokerage Fees.
- If you are at all unsure about importing goods from Canada, start with BORESCOPE IT. Your payment is done through a safe channel, your delivery is guaranteed, the products are quality assured, and you can begin by ordering only 1 piece as a sample! For large quantities we offer flexible discount rate on a line of each product offered.
Can we ship your order to your country? Yes, we deliver to every country.
- BORESCOPE IT delivers to every country. Different shipping methods are available for different countries. We mostly ship by FedEx and Xpresspost (similar to American USPS and European EMS).
- To see the shipping prices for any country, add items to your shopping cart, change the shipping address and proceed to checkout. You will see the shipping prices for that country.
- When you order we will ship your order providing you with tracking number for convenience of tracking your shipment.
- In some countries, importing bigger quantities of goods is restricted for private individuals and businesses. It's your responsibility to comply with your country's laws. Please check with your local Customs or local government website to see if importing requires any special licence in your country.
- If you are located in one country, and want to ship to another country, this is also OK - this is "international dropshipping".
- When shipping to some countries, we can accept bank transfer payment only, due to fraud prevention.
